GUIDELINES
1.0 Objectives of the Awards Scheme
The Australasian Research Management Society (ARMS) is offering awards for outstanding contributions that have enhanced the profession of research management and administration, and reflect the ARMS strategic directions and organisational values of promoting the research enterprise and enhancing the interface between research and its management.
Award(s) of Excellence in Research Management/Administrative Practice are to reward excellence in practice through leading change, working smarter, providing quality service or for innovation in research management.
Leading change is to be characterised by the principles of engaging in best practice for sustainable outcomes; working collaboratively to enhance teamwork; and positively influencing others by building shared commitment to workplace and organisational objectives.
Working smarter is to be characterised by using creative and innovative solutions that improve the way work is carried out that makes it easier, more efficient and more productive, while ensuring the continued quality of outcomes.
Providing outstanding quality service is to be recognised by your client groups for consistent outstanding service that has enhanced the profession of research administration.
Research Management Innovation is to reward excellence in innovation through the creation of new and leading ideas such as demonstration that the product or process is novel to the research management enterprise or is a significant improvement to an existing technology or its application. Alternatively the product or process should anticipate the impacts of change by presenting a new way of achieving corporate objectives or improved productivity.
Note that the establishment or implementation of a new information system will not, in and of itself, be sufficient to qualify as excellence in research management innovation. Where implementation of an information system is part of an application, the application must demonstrate also how this has changed processes to bring new understanding to the research management enterprise.
2.0 Eligibility
Only current financial ARMS members may be nominated, and both individuals and teams are encouraged. Team applications are accepted provided that the ARMS members of the team have played a significant role in leading and initiating the practice or innovation.
3.0 Application & Selection Processes
Following an annual call for nominations the ARMS Executive Committee will meet to select award winner(s) who will be announced at the annual ARMS conference.
Applications will be assessed against the selection criteria.
Award winners will be recognised by the presentation of a certificate acknowledging their achievement and a feature article in the Up in ARMS newsletter and a $1,000 payment to their employer to be used for the ARMS members’ professional development.
